About

I started making jewelry over 10 years ago when I was an actress in Los Angeles. I learned to twist wire and string beads together on movie sets. It wasn't long before my passion for making jewelry grew outside the box. I moved to New York a few years ago to learn all the steps needed to create fine jewelry. I sat next to some of the most talented goldsmiths on 47th street in NYC's Diamond district and cultivated my craft. After a year, I moved back to Los Angeles where I work today in my studio in the Pasadena area. I continue to learn from amazing artisans here. My greatest joy comes from sitting at my bench working on fine metals and molding them into beautiful pieces of jewelry. I have always been fond of colored stones, and to this day, mixing color in my jewelry is a priority. I can derive my color schemes from what I may see in nature or in architecture, or even in a stunning piece of fabric. I'm open to what draws my eye and the potential of what can be made from seeing colors merge.

The Olive collection was one of the first I created.  Not only is the olive tree my favorite, but it also represents so many happy and hopeful moments for me.  In my travels around the world, my favorite spots hold these trees sacred.  And with its simple beauty, it also symbolizes peace as well. All my other collections have grown from the same place of being inspired by people, places, nature, and self love.

Also, I have taken on many more custom design jobs that have been really thrilling to work on. Collaborating with a client to create their very own signature piece is an honor. Engagement rings have been at the forefront of my custom designing. I feel so grateful to be able to work in a field I truly love, and hope I pass on as much joy to those who wear Joely Rae Jewelry.

I am a believer in giving back whenever I can.  Through my jewelry, I have been able to donate to charities near and dear to me.  I am a dog mom and animal lover, so I do give to rescues in need.  Also, the UNHCR and Salvation Army are doing amazing work to help those in need.
