I started making jewelry over 10 years ago when I was an actress in Los Angeles. I learned to twist wire and string beads together on movie sets. It wasn't long before my passion for making jewelry grew outside the box. I moved to New York a few years ago to learn all the steps needed to create fine jewelry. I sat next to some of the most talented goldsmiths on 47th street in NYC's Diamond district and cultivated my craft. After a year, I moved back to Los Angeles where I work today in my studio downtown on Hill Street. I continue to learn from amazing artisans here. My greatest joy comes from sitting at my bench working on fine metals and molding them into beautiful pieces of jewelry. I have always been fond of colored stones, and to this day, mixing color in my jewelry is a priority. I can derive my color schemes from what I may see in nature or in architecture, or even in a stunning piece of fabric. I'm open to what draws my eye and the potential of what can be made from seeing colors merge.
Over the past few years, I have also started to create a more spiritual based line called Ethereal. This collection emerged out of a great loss I experienced. Through designing this line, I grew to feel more peace and balance in my life. My wish is for others to find their peace. If my jewelry can contribute in some way, I am so happy. We all deserve balance and harmony in our lives.
I am also so thrilled to be launching my Rose Collection. Growing up on a farm in Southern California, my father filled our property with Rose gardens. I remember feeling so giddy whenever I played there.
Roses bring so much beauty and happiness. I wanted to create a line that would emulate that feeling. With Roses, you can mix all sorts of colors. I will be growing this line more and more, so keep an eye out.
Also, I have taken on many more custom design jobs that have been really thrilling to work on. Collaborating with a client to create their very own signature piece is an honor. Engagement rings have been at the forefront of my custom designing. I feel so grateful to be able to work in a field I truly love, and hope I pass on as much joy to those who wear Joely Rae Jewelry.
I support and donate to the Peace Plan that is amazingly run by the Saddleback Church in Lake Forest. To learn more about what they do you can visit their site at www.thepeaceplan.com
